History

MYM Marketing & Public Relations, Inc. was the result of a dream! Mickey Yongue Montevideo, a seasoned veteran of the public relations industry and a native of the Athens area, founded the company in 1997 after realizing she wanted to expand her professional endeavors. Initially a one-person, home-based operation, MYM has grown through the years to include two additional employees and an office centrally located in the heart of downtown Athens. The firm boasts a diverse client base and specializes in such industries as health care, government, small business, real estate development, non-profit, and more. Since its inception, MYM has garnered several awards and recognitions.

Mission

As a full-service marketing, public relations and advertising agency, MYM has as its mission to create awareness and visibility of services and products for clients who desire increased revenues and improved positioning in the market places. Services are provided in a quality, professional, timely, hardworking, and honest manner.

Mickey is the founder, president and principal associate of MYM Marketing & Public Relations, Inc. Prior to starting her business, Mickey was the Public Relations Director at Athens Regional Medical Center for 15 years. An Athens native, Mickey graduated with an ABJ from the University of Georgia's Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications, with a specialty in Broadcast News. She has been involved in numerous community and civic activities including:

  • Athens Area Chamber of Commerce
  • United Way of Northeast Georgia
  • Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary
  • UGA Alumni Association
  • WOW Community Playground Project/Friends of Southeast Clarke Park
  • Athens First United Methodist Church

The recipient of several community and civic awards, Mickey was a community hero torchbearer during the Olympic games and is a recipient of the Athena Award.

Mickey lives in Bogart with her husband, Harry, who is the publisher of the Red and Black, the daily newspaper serving the University of Georgia campus, and their young son, Harrison. Besides her family, Mickey's passion is cooking and friendships.
