Dr. Robert L. Waugh Local Orthodontist Selected to Lead Advanced Courses

(Athens, Ga.) Dr. Robert L. Waugh of Waugh & Allen, Associates in Orthodontics has been selected to create and lead advanced courses for orthodontists in the use of OrthoCAD iQ, a digitally optimized bracket positioning system. Officials from Cadent, Inc., the developer of the new technology, made the announcement at the American Association of Orthodontists meeting held in May.

"I am looking forward to educating my colleagues on the benefits of OrthoCAD iQ, which allows orthodontists to virtually plan orthodontic treatment outcomes before braces are placed," said Dr. Waugh. "By improving the accuracy of bracket placement, this technique saves patients extended treatment times and office visits."

The daylong course is open to orthodontists from around the country and will be held in Athens four times this year.

A board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Waugh has been involved in orthodontic education since 1990. In addition to his private practice, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at the Medical College of Georgia and is senior faculty doctor at The Damon Institute for Advanced Orthodontic Education in Georgia.

Dr. Waugh graduated from MCG in 1987 with both a DMD and a Masters Degree in Oral Biology. He went on to earn his orthodontic certification and a second Masters Degree at Baylor University in 1989. In 2000, Dr. Waugh became the first and only board certified orthodontist in Athens. He has served as President of the Georgia Association of Orthodontists and the Clarke County Dental Society and has been inducted into the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.
